With such a large student population there is a huge selection of clubs and student nights that cater to the student lifestyles, offering cheap drinks, entry and more freebies to those wielding a student card.
As far as night clubs are concerned the clubs that are most popular for their student nights are The Leadmill, Plug and Corporation. Usually these nights are midweek as this means the club is able to open during the week and also avoid the weekend, when the rest of Sheffield comes out to play.
The Leadmill is known for its legendary night that has been running for more than a decade and promises to continue on for many years. The Leadmill also has a great musical history and was a big part of the Sheffield music scene that saw the rise of the Arctic Monkeys, Milburn and Little Man Tate to name a few.
Plug's biggest student night is Propaganda, which is popular for many students due to the star DJs and artists that they have every week. Even though Propaganda is one of the more expensive nights, the quality of entertainment available makes it well worth a visit with your mates - even if it is only for a special occasion.
Corporation - affectionately known as 'Corp' - is known for its School Disco on Wednesdays which sees the student population dress up in shirts and ties with plenty of cheap drinks, entry and many different rooms within Corp catering to different tastes in music.
As well as the night clubs, there are a huge range of late bars and pubs that cater exclusively to the student population. Bars like The Globe, Cavendish and The Place are part of a chain of bars that target the student demographic, often located near Student Accommodation and areas with a dense student population.
These pubs are an excellent place to go to meet beforehand, have a liquid lunch or just have a quiet drink or two in the evening with your housemates. They often have quizzes or events on to give you a chance to wind down after a long day of studying and give you a rest from the night club scene.
Not to be outdone, the Student Unions have a great repertoir of nights out. The Sheffield University Student Union has its Tuesday Club which is a student that night has gained a national reputation amongst the student population for its quality. The Sheffield Hallam University club nights aren't as popular as Tuesday Club but they have the Phoenix Bar which is a large bar in the Union that hosts sports events on a big screen, with plenty of deals if you present your student card.
At UniHomes we have a great choice of Sheffield student accommodation in all the main student areas, where you will be within easy walking distance of many of the clubs, pubs and bars.
