Finding Student Accommodation in Leeds
Leeds has previously been voted as the UK's best University destination by the Independent newspaper, attracting over 60,000 students every year and we can see why. It is home to two large Universities, Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds as well as a number of smaller universities including Leeds Trinity, Leeds Art University and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
With so many students around, student accommodation is both varied and plentiful, suiting all tastes, personalities and budgets.
Like most cities these days, student accommodation in Leeds City Centre is mostly limited to student halls, flats or apartments. That being said, some of them are absolutely gorgeous, boasting contemporary design features, modern amenities – no surprise for a city of artsy universities! These are normally designed to be shared between two students, though with the growing market for private student halls, many landlords have renovated apartments to have five or more bedrooms, so you’ll get the halls experience with all the benefits of private student housing.
Alternatively, the other big student areas in Leeds are conveniently grouped close together so you’ll never have to far to go to visit friends, or to get to your new favourite restaurant (can you even pick a favourite with so many to choose from?). Choose from a selection of lovely student houses in Burley, or check out modern apartment buildings and student flats in Hyde Park and Headingley.
Wherever you decide to go, UniHomes showcase all-inclusive student accommodation across Leeds to help you compare your options and find the best student homes in Leeds for the coming academic year.
Being a Student in Leeds
There's no surprise that being a student in the North of England is going to be easier on your pocket than the South of the country, but you may be surprised to hear that Leeds comes in cheaper than it's Northern neighbours, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield!
The city is famed for it's nightlife, with something to offer everyone. Visit Call Lane and grab yourself a chilled cocktail and a craft beer or get down to Beaver Works where you'll find some of the biggest club nights in the city. You can't be a student in Leeds without giving the Otley Run a shot – a 16 strong bar crawl through Leeds, where those taking part, dust off their best fancy-dress costumes and make their way along the trail.
The music scene in Leeds has always been one to envy, with a large selection of gig venues, big and small and music to suit every taste. Whether it's a world tour at the O2 Arena, or a secret gig at the Brudenell Social Club, from the likes of Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs. Not forgetting Leeds is home to one half of the duo Reading and Leeds Festival, with attendance being nearly 80,000 every year!

If you're looking for something a little bit quieter to do, then Leeds is the perfect location with direct links to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where you'll be able to follow the famous Yorkshire Great Depart of the 2014 Tour De France.
Outside of London, Leeds is the only city to be home to its own theatre, ballet and opera companies, so why not catch a show from the Northern Ballet at the Grand Theatre. Or, get yourself along to one of the many museums available in the city including the Royal Armouries, to see a collection of historical armouries from around the world.
If all of that isn't enough, then maybe the choice of shopping will persuade you. Trinity Leeds is a large shopping complex with 120 shops, restaurants and bars, great for all your high street brands. If you're looking for something a little bit more original then visiting the vintage shops in the Corn Exchange or Call Lane is a must.
