About Nottingham

Nottingham is one of the youngest cities in the UK, with over half of the population being under 30 years old, which makes it a vibrant and lively place to study. Combining this with the city’s population of 60,000 students, it’s safe to say that Nottingham is the ideal city to live the student lifestyle.

If you’re hoping to live in one of Nottingham’s student hotspots, Lenton is worth a visit. Lenton is particularly popular with students from the University of Nottingham and sits between the Jubilee and University Park campuses. The district is home to a bunch of bars, cafes and restaurants to keep you satisfied, and the Savoy Cinema is just around the corner. It's undoubtedly one of the city’s most popular student areas!

Students at the University of Nottingham often flock to Dunkirk too, which is just next door to the main campus. This area is excellent for medical students, as Dunkirk is close to the Queen’s Medical Centre. Fun fact: Dunkirk is actually famous for being a location for the Dark Knight Rises Batman film!

For students at Nottingham Trent University, the city centre is considered the place to be. It’s easy to justify living at the centre of this buzzing city, with plenty of culture right on your doorstep. The famous Cornerhouse and the Victoria Centre are nearby, providing access to plenty of high-street shops, indie cafes and essential amenities. Alternatively, you might want to check out Hockley, which is one of the edgiest parts of town and well known for being the go-to place for bars. You can also enjoy exploring the Lace Market which is full of bars and restaurants for you to explore. Nottingham Castle is right in the city centre too if you want to learn more about Nottingham’s history

If you want to be a little further out of the city, Beeston is excellent for students at either university. It’s practically its own student bubble, meaning the atmosphere nearby is bustling and vibrant. Plus, it’s only six minutes from the city centre via train, meaning getting around is an absolute doddle.
