About Glasgow

The largest city in Scotland, Glasgow is famous for its vibrant nightlife, cosmopolitan culture, quirky independent shops and stunning green spaces. It’s also one of the only cities in the UK with an underground metro service, making it incredibly easy to get around as a student!

Glasgow is home to three major universities, as well as The Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, making it one of the most student-populated cities in the UK with around 185,000 students. Known for being warm and welcoming, Glasgow’s slogan ‘People Make Glasgow’ couldn’t be more true! Living in Glasgow as a student means you’ll never be short of things to do, places to see, and people to meet.

Glasgow Student Accommodation

When it comes to accommodation for students in Glasgow, there are loads of options to choose from. From small student flats with en-suite rooms to four or five-bedroomed student houses that are perfect for sharing with your mates, Glasgow has it all. Most student areas are located in the trendy West End, just a short distance from The University of Glasgow.

Hillhead is just a stone’s throw away from Glasgow University - perfect for rolling out of bed and heading to early morning lectures. Its range of cosy cafes and lively bars make it the perfect location if you’re a student who loves socialising.

Slightly further north of the University is trendy Finnieston. Just a short walk from Sauchiehall Street, where you can find bustling bars playing live music every night of the week, Finnieston is a great place for live music lovers.

You might need to venture a bit further afield for more budget-friendly student accommodation. Rent in areas like Partick, Maryhill and North Kelvinside, in the north of the city, tends to be lower, but there is still a huge student community. Plus, you’re still within walking distance of the Glasgow University campus, or there’s always the bus or metro if you’re not feeling the walk!
