Sandwiched between beautiful countryside and a stunning stretch of coastline, the town enjoys a bustling tourism industry. And thanks to a very large university population, the area is a multicultural oasis of eateries, museums, galleries, coffee shops and retail stores. Unsurprisingly, there’s also an exciting night scene in the town, which is centred in and around the town centre.

The accommodation is dominated by larger houses with between three and six bedrooms — perfect for sharing with friends. Being a Student in Aberystwyth

Students looking for a mix of beautiful scenery and vibrant nightlife will love Aberystwyth. As well as some gorgeous sandy beaches, the town is home to bars, restaurants, boutique stores, charming coffee shops and a diverse student culture. And with three National Parks just a short drive away, the very best of Mother Nature is right on the doorstep.

Where Aberystwyth differs from other university towns in the UK is its diverse range of outdoor activities. The proximity of the National Parks provides students with the opportunity to go climbing, hiking, mountain biking, camping and orienteering. In fact, the Students’ Union at Aberystwyth University is home to more than 100 clubs and societies, offering everything from canoeing in the sea to mountain climbing.

This is a great town for simply chilling out with friends and enjoying the stunning scenery on offer. For example, a lot of students like to enjoy a picnic while watching the famous sunset on Constitution Hill. And there’s a great vantage spot at the top of the Cliff Railway. Whether you head to the beautiful promenade or ruinous Aberystwyth Castle, you’ll often see students milling about with friends and generally having a good time.

Despite being a relatively small university town, there’s a fantastic night scene in Aberystwyth. Perhaps the most spectacular venue is the Inn on the Pier, which is a vibrant pub that provides breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay. One of the busiest student haunts in the town is The Glengower, which is a stylish bar and eatery on Victoria Terrace. And for a club experience that would give London a run for its money, students head to the Pier Pressure nightclub, which is located right at the end of the Royal Pier.

Aberystwyth University Student Accommodation

Aberystwyth University is home to two great campuses and a series of individual research and activity centres spread across the town. The main campus is called Penglais, which overlooks both the town and the seafront. This area is home to student halls and official university residences.

Just a stone’s throw from the Penglais Campus is the town centre — home to some of the best student houses in Aberystwyth. Accommodation in this area is always in high demand, thanks to the proximity of local shops, bars, restaurants and amenities. While many of the properties here are quite small, the chance to live so close to the heart of the town or by the harbour is very appealing to a lot of students.

The biggest area for student homes in Aberystwyth is probably North Parade. There are some very large terraced and semi-detached properties here, some with as many as 10 bedrooms. Homes in this area are surrounded by eateries, shops, pubs and essential facilities, which is why it’s so popular.

Bridge Street is a little closer to the river and boasts slightly smaller houses. However, there’s great value to be found when searching for homes in the area. And the main retail district — which includes a huge supermarket — is just around the corner.

Of all the student houses in Aberystwyth, some of the most spectacular can be found in and around Victoria Terrace. The area boasts some beautiful Georgian terrace houses. But the real star of the show is the view, as the street is just a few feet from the waters of Cardigan Bay.
