De Montfort University is situated on the outskirts of Leicester’s city centre, meaning living in the city is always a popular option for students.

If the idea of a busy city doesn’t appeal to you that much, a range of student accommodation options can be found a bit further out of the centre. Stoneygate and Clarendon Park are less than a 30-minute walk from campus, and offer an abundance of greenery in the nearby parklands.

Student Life

Leicester is recognised for being one of the friendliest cities in the UK. With 20% of those studying being international students, who come from over 130 countries, it’s clear that the city’s welcoming nature is recognised globally. Leicester’s Old Town is the perfect place to shop and there’s a selection of places to eat and drink too.

Close to campus is Clarendon park which offers a great selection of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants so you’ll never have to stray far away from campus or home if you don’t want to.

Over the years, students have developed over 140 clubs and societies to get involved with at DMU. The university’s influential status has brought several market leaders to deliver guest lectures, with shoe designer Jimmy Choo and novelist and former alumni Adele Parks coming back to visit.

With a recent £136 million development into City Campus, improvements have been made to teaching rooms, eateries and the Students’ Union. DMU is constantly looking to develop and grow their university and make student living as easy as possible.
