Student-friendly Easter baking recipes

Easy recipe: Chocolate Cornflake Nests! 🧁

Chocolate Cornflake nests were always a crowd favourite as a kid… who says we can’t carry on that tradition?

  • Ingredients: by using only five ingredients (chocolate, golden syrup, butter, Cornflakes and Mini Eggs), you can nestle-up with this delicious chocolatey treat.

  • Time: super quick, these can be made within 40 minutes (including prep and baking time).

  • Cost: Asda = £4.63 | Tesco = £4.60 | Aldi = £3.50.

Medium difficulty recipe: Crème Egg brownies! 🍫

Brownies are one of the most popular chocolate choices, so why not make them even more indulgent with Crème Eggs?

  • Ingredients: have a crack at making them from scratch! The recipe only requires butter, dark chocolate, plain flour, cocoa powder, large eggs, golden caster sugar and of course, Crème Eggs.

  • Time: only 35 minutes to complete, and makes 12 delicious slices.

  • Cost: Asda = £8.17 | Tesco = £9.10 | Aldi = £6.12.

Medium difficulty recipe: Mini Egg chewy cookies! 🍪

Chewy cookies are my absolute favourite – if they taste like they're a little raw, I’m obsessed!

  • Ingredients: butter, light brown soft sugar, golden caster sugar, one large egg, vanilla extract, plain flour, bicarbonate of soda, white chocolate, dark chocolate, Mini Eggs.

  • Time: takes 1 hour 15 minutes to complete and creates 20 dreamy cookies (simply half the ingredients to create half the amount!).

  • Cost: Asda = £8.99 | Tesco = £9.14 | Aldi - £6.67.

Difficult recipe: Easter Egg cheesecake! 🍰

Cheesecake is something I’ve grown to love over the years, but it's always been slightly intimidating to make. Nevertheless, thanks to this perfected recipe, I no longer crumble under the pressure when it comes to this crowd favourite.

  • Ingredients:oil, Digestives, unsalted butter, Mini Eggs, soft cheese, icing sugar, double cream and vanilla bean paste.

  • Time: only takes 20 minutes to create - along with a night’s sleep in the fridge.

  • Cost: Asda = £8.14 | Tesco = £8.74 | Aldi = £7.52.

Top tips to become a pro baker 🙌🏼

  • TikTok is great for inspiration! Just type in phrases such as “easter bakes”, “student baking” and “easter cakes” to hop onto some fun and unique recipes such as Mini Egg Rice Krispie treats and cheesecake in an Easter egg!

  • Clean up as you go! I love baking but hate the washing up – avoid the backlog of bowls and wash as you go, leaving you more time at the end to sample your sweet goods as quickly as possible.

  • Split the costs. If your flat/house is having a bake-off, compile a combined list of ingredients so you don’t have lots of leftovers.

  • Raid the cupboards. You’ll find that you already have a lot of the basic ingredients in your cupboards such as eggs, flour, and vanilla extract.

  • Use left-over easter Eggs by melting them down and using them as decoration!

There you have it – now it’s time to roll your sleeves up and become everyone’s favourite flatmate! Not got a sweet tooth? Check out our blog post on student-friendly meals for some savoury inspo.
