Why Lower Coundon is Great for Students
Located to the north-west of Coventry city centre, Coundon is a residential area popular with students studying at Coventry University. Pre-1930’s, the area used to be a small village on the city outskirts, but as Coventry’s population expanded, it naturally became a suburb of the city.
As such there’s a fabulous range of early 1900’s terraces and semi-detached properties available with some much larger properties than you’d find in other areas of the city. This means Lower Coundon is a great area for groups of three or four students sharing while larger groups are still able to find 6-bedroom houses or more.
As a popular residential area for families, Lower Coundon naturally has a friendly, local vibe with lots of public social events and open park areas to be enjoyed. The areas connection to Holyhead Road, a main route into Coventry, also means there’s fast and regular public transport options into the city too – perfect for students as Coventry University. For students studying at the University of Warwick, Lower Coundon is a little further away than many of Coventry’s other student suburbs, so travel times will be longer.
With smatterings of commercial areas throughout Coundon, Holyhead Road also provides access to many of the amenities required for everyday student life, including a large Morrisons, McDonalds, and a variety of bars, pubs and restaurants.
