A Bit of History to go with this House, one of the Former owners was Guy Burgess
Guy Burgess (1911–1963) was a British diplomat and Soviet double agent who was part of the infamous Cambridge Spy Ring. Educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, he was recruited by Soviet intelligence in the 1930s. He worked for the BBC, the Foreign Office, and MI6, all while secretly passing classified information to the USSR. In 1951, facing exposure, he defected to Moscow with fellow spy Donald Maclean. He spent the rest of his life in the Soviet Union, where he struggled with exile and alcoholism. His betrayal was a major Cold War scandal, exposing deep Soviet infiltration of British intelligence.
Guy Burgess was secretly working on behalf of the Soviet Union while holding official positions within the British government. Although he appeared to be a loyal British diplomat and intelligence officer, he was a committed communist and Soviet double agent. Throughout his career, he passed highly classified British and American intelligence to the KGB. His true allegiance was to the USSR.
