Best Student Events to Celebrate St Patrick's Day This Year

Every year people all over the world, Irish or not, come together to celebrate Irish culture, with parties, parades, and a whole host of unique and exciting events to mark the big day.

But with so many celebrations going on across the country, how do you decide which is the best? 🍀

Not to worry, we've found the best events across the UK’s biggest student cities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, so you don’t have to. From bingo games to paint parties, you need to check out the full list. Have a read below: 

Newcastle

A city best known for its nightlife and friendly locals, there was no doubt Newcastle was bound to have some must see events this St. Patrick’s Day! Personally we love the sound of the Bongo’s Bingo St. Patrick’s special, with a special appearance from Five! A mix of bingo, fun prizes, and cheesy singalongs, we think this is the perfect event to kick off the celebration.

Leeds

Named as the best St. Patrick’s party in the city, the Irish Centre in Leeds is hosting its annual celebration, featuring the band ‘The Tradition’ playing classic Irish music. Fancy more of a club night? Head down to Space where Love Island heart throb Jack Fowler is doing his very own DJ set.

Sheffield

ABBA and St. Patrick’s Day is a combo we didn't know we needed, until now. Down at The Leadmill in Sheffield, they are hosting an ABBA disco night, paired with green pints and baby Guinness’s to keep the green vibes flowing. 

Manchester 

Another city well known for its vibrant nightlife, Factory in Manchester is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day twist on their classic Thursday night party. Featuring Irish drinks, tunes and decor across 3 floors, we know this will be an event to remember!

Norwich

Everyone’s heard of Propaganda, well the huge indie/alt club night makes Norwich its home for Paddy’s Day down at The Waterfront - green decor and Guinness? Oh yes, the site says to imagine festival vibes without the mud, sounds good to us!

Birmingham

Thought Oktoberfest was the only time BierKeller threw a party? Think again! Well known for its huge steins of beer, BierKeller Birmingham are throwing their own Paddy’s fest throughout some of their UK sites, one being in Brum! With a comedian host, student & society drink deals, it’s got to be on the list!

Southampton

St. Patrick’s and paint? Say no more! Popular with those all-inclusive package holidays in sunny Kavos, Maga and Ibiza, Switch Southampton is bringing the summer themed party to the UK to celebrate the greenest day of the year! UV paint cannons and £2 drinks? We’re sold!

Nottingham

Nottingham locals need to get yourselves down to ICON this Thursday for the return of their St. Patrick’s day carnival. Complete with a green dress code, prize giveaways and Irish music, this is another event perfect for celebrating the big day. Did somebody say 2 for 1 drinks?

Glasgow

Up in Glasgow, Sub Club is hosting their St. Patrick’s Day special featuring DJ sets from the likes of Tommy Holohan and Yasmin Gardezi, which looks to be a night to remember. If you’re not into club nights, The Stand comedy club is hosting a comedy special to celebrate the holiday, featuring some of Ireland's best stand up acts. Starting at only £10 a ticket, you can’t go wrong!

Bristol

Can you ever have too many bingo events? The answer is obviously no, that’s why we are rounding off the list with Motion’s Bingo Lingo – St. Paddy’s Day special!  With onstage battles, fun prizes, and crazy rounds - these events usually sell out fast and we’re not surprised; early bird tickets are already gone so better get on the second release fast!
