About the author: Hi! My name is Evie, and I’m the UniHomes’ Liverpool Content Ambassador. I’m currently studying Communication and Media at the University of Liverpool. Alongside my studies, I’m Social Media Officer for the uni’s LGBT+ Society and News Editor for The Liverpool Tab. Outside of uni, I love live music and gigs, as well as being a part-time barista - I love a coffee shop!

There is no doubt that Liverpool has to be amongst some of the best cities in the UK for a night out, and I’m sure anyone who’s spent the night partying in Concert Square will tell you the exact same.

Whether you’re a fresher looking for the certified classics or a third-year trying to hit every hidden gem before graduation, there’s something here for every stage of your uni journey.

Here are some of the best student nights out in Liverpool, and those you absolutely can’t miss while you’re at uni!

Best Liverpool student nights out

Liverpool pubs for students

There is nothing better than gathering your mates together and heading down to the student pubs to start the night early, and Liverpool is definitely not short of them.

The classics on Hardman Street, such as The Flute and Hope and Anchor, all become staples in your first year. And even better, they both use the MiXR. app so you can get student deals on drinks all week long. The vibe is always brought by society socials in these pubs, so expect costumes from fairies, pirates, and crazy wigs.

If a quieter, local vibe is more your thing, The Pilgrim, The Grapes, and St. Peters Tavern all have to be second- and third-year staples for nights out. These are the perfect venues for gathering friends together and starting the night off strong before hitting the clubs.

All of them are located just minutes away from the main student clubs in Concert Square, so once pres finish and you decide to hit the clubs, you don’t even need to stress about paying for Ubers or catching the last bus into town.

Soho

If starting off on Concert Square is more your thing, then Soho in the centre of the Square has to be a top pick.

The bar has both an outdoor seating area for all the icebreakers with your new flatmates in first year, as well as an indoor dancefloor for when the vibe changes after a couple of drinks. Alongside this, they have student deals on pitchers for £10 and any house cocktails with a shot for £5 from Sunday to Thursday; it’s a classic for students in the city.

Best student nightclubs in Liverpool city centre: Raz Mondays

If you’re willing to face the queues and head out early before the rush at 10 PM, then The Raz on a Monday is the place to be. Located in the city centre's classic Blue Angel Nightclub, I'm afraid you can’t say you’ve been on a proper Liverpool night out on a Monday unless you’ve been to The Raz.

Expect 2000s pop bangers, classic throwback tunes, party anthems and all the nostalgia you didn’t know you needed until you were there.

For only £4 cash entry, it feels like a steal. Drinks are cheap (with some only for £1!), and it’s all cash only, so you can check your bank account at the end of the night and it still feels like you’ve spent no money! A bargain, really.

Wednesday Sports Socials

Even if you don’t consider yourself a particularly ‘sporty’ person, you’ll want to join a sports society for the Wednesday socials.

Starting your night off in town at Black Rabbit following the society pres, expect throwback tunes, pop classics, chart music, and even a dabble of house music as the night begins. Only a short walk around the corner afterwards will take you to The Hatch, a certified Wednesday night staple with £4 pints and £6 Quad Vods - what’s not to love?

These nights can be long, especially if you start at the previously mentioned pubs, so my biggest advice would be to pace yourself. Liverpool has such a depth of nightlife that you don’t want to waste it all in the first place because you’ve had too many student-discounted drinks!

Electrik Thursdays

Thursdays have to be one of the best student nights out in Liverpool, full of various different club nights and society socials, but Shindie at Electrik Warehouse is the place to be.

Don’t fear, even if indie music isn’t exactly your thing, there are four rooms with entirely different genres! With the classic indie floor covering specials with a range of different artists, floor two featuring the best pop bangers around, and the third and fourth floors showcasing the best disco and dance hits, respectively.

To add to that, £4 doubles and mixers and £2 shots are not ones to miss out on if you’re on a tight student budget!

To say myself, I’ve never had a bad night at Shindie - it’s a classic in the Liverpool uni student experience. The energy is like no other, and one you will never forget.
