So, you're heading out on the town in Coventry – but where to go? Check out our Coventry bar crawl route for inspiration – perfect both for Freshers' Week or if you want to switch up your night out routine further into your uni experience.
Pubs and bars
- The Old Windmill – kick things off at this beautiful Grade II listed pub which dates back to the 16th century – just think how many students before you have drank in here! While it's slightly out of the way, it's worth it.
- Castle Grounds – head back into the 21st century with The Castle Grounds, a popular city centre pub known for its multiple sports screens and lively atmosphere.
- Boom Battle Bar – the interactive bar is a fun stop-off, giving you the chance for activities like axe-throwing or mini golf. If you're ready to move on to a club, it's also handily close to Empire.
- Ivy House – this popular student pub is a short walk away and known for its good atmosphere.
- The Phoenix – "pub by day, party by night" is The Phoenix's tagline, making it doubly deserving of a place on our route. Found on Gosforth Street, it offers a dedicated student night on Wednesdays with cheap drinks and a lively crowd. It's also close to 147, if you're ready to move on to a nightclub.
- Quids Inn – located right near the Coventry Uni campus, as the name suggests Quids Inn brands itself as a "cheap and cheerful" student bar.
- Players Party Rooms – to the north of the other bars, Players is a bit out of the way from the others on this list it's handy if you want to move on to...
-
Nightclubs
- Kasbah – not far from Players, Kasbah claims to host the biggest parties for Coventry and Warwick students, and it's hard to disagree.
- hmv Empire – known for its live acts and afterparties, Empire isn't far from Boom Battle Bar and holds dedicated student nights and events – including the official Cov Uni student night "Get Social Wednesdays".
- 147 – not far from The Phoenix, 147 offers late-night clubbing – it's open til 4am every Saturday.
- The Copper Rooms – Warwick students, this one's for you. Copper Rooms is at the heart of Warwick campus, so it's too far from the rest of our list to be part of a city centre bar crawl.
And while you're touring these venues, look out for our UniHomes iVan which will be doing the rounds and spreading the word about how we help students find your dream accommodation and sort your utilities hassle-free.
Don't forget, you don't need to be drinking to have a great night. Check out our guide to having a fab sober Freshers' Week here.
