About the author: Hi! I'm Isabelle, a BA Journalism student at Coventry University. I run the socials for CU Phoenix Radio, the university's student radio station. Outside of uni, I'm an avid sourdough baker, Swiftie, and animal lover (especially when it comes to my pets!).

Procrastinating that last assignment? Or want to take a break from studying? There’s no better way to treat yourself than with a delicious coffee and some baked goods.

Luckily, there are loads of cute cafés and hidden gems around Coventry, just a short walk or bus ride away from both Coventry and Warwick University.

Here's the ultimate roundup of the best places for a sweet treat in Coventry.

5 Locations for Sweet Treats in Coventry

1. Baxter Baristas - 📍16 Hales Street and Jordan Well, City Centre

Baxter Baristas is right in the heart of Coventry University’s campus, with two locations in the Herbert and Transport Museum. This dog-friendly café is the perfect spot to grab a sweet treat while you study, offering free Wifi and a 10% student discount.

Menu Standouts? Their baked goods change every day, but standouts include Oreo cheesecake brownies, Kinder Bueno cookies, and delicious pastries. You can also grab breakfast or lunch here from their huge hot food menu, including a full English breakfast and focaccia sandwiches.

Price? Sweet treats and drinks range from £3 to £5, and hot food costs between £7 and £10.

How do I get there? Baxter's is a short walk from most city centre student accommodation and Coventry University buildings, or a twenty-minute bus ride on the 12X from Warwick University.

2. Adore - 📍The Burges, City Centre

This Adore-able bakery sells Instagram-worthy treats, inspired by Mediterranean desserts. From mini cannolis to artisanal individual cakes, there’s something to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. Too exhausted from studying to leave your accommodation? Worry not - Adore is available to order on Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats.

Menu Standouts? Popular items include Ferrero Rocher and chocolate mousse cakes, along with dessert staples like tiramisu, baklava, and a massive assortment of cheesecakes and tarts. Fancy some variety? Check out their buy-one-get-one-free cannolis.

Price? Prices range from £2.50 for individual cannolis (a bargain!) and £6 for cakes, to £8-10 for speciality cheesecakes and milk cakes.

How do I get there? Adore is a ten-minute walk from Coventry University's campus, or a 20-minute bus ride on the 12X from Warwick University.

3. Kitchen 126 - 📍126 Southbank Rd, Coundon

Looking for a cute stop for brunch? Look no further than Kitchen 126. This café offers delicious Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-inspired brunch meals, perfect for a date with friends to celebrate finishing the semester. You can also find a case of homemade cakes and pastries, perfect for a quick coffee stop if that’s more your style.

Menu Standouts? Their cakes and pastries change daily, but often include brownies, cinnamon buns, muffins, and vegan bakes. Their Kitchen French Toast is the perfect brunch option, with almond butter, raspberry compote, pistachios, maple syrup, and coconut yoghurt. Don’t fancy French Toast? The Pancakes Your Way is another delicious option, with bacon and maple syrup, or build your own.

Price? Bakes range from £2.50 to £4.20, and sweet brunch items are £7 to £8.

How do I get there? Kitchen 126 is a 20-minute bus ride from Coventry on the 82 or X1, but tricky to reach from Warwick University. Their second location, Kitchen at the Courtyard, is located inside The Hub at Coventry University, and features more grab-and-go coffee and treats.

4. Snickerwoodles Magical Bakery - 📍95 Regent Street, Leamington Spa

If you’re a cookie lover, you’ll love Snickerwoodles. Owned by Wicked Cookies, this bakery has all the chocolate chips and chunks you could ever want. And did I mention they have dairy- and gluten-free cookies? Just off the high street, this is a great place to grab a sweet treat and do some retail therapy after exams and assignment season. If you can’t get enough of these cookies, you can order them online on Wicked Cookies’ website.

Menu Standouts? Popular flavours include cinnamon sugar, classic chocolate chip, and raspberry and white chocolate. They also have more unique flavours, like cherry and coconut, fudge and raisin, and mint chocolate chip.

Price? These cookies are £3 to £3.50, but are a great size for the price. This makes them a great Coventry sweet treat to help keep you going - and keep your student budget on track.

How do I get there? Take the X18 bus from Gulson Road in Coventry, or the 11 from Warwick University, and take a short walk down the high street. Snickerwoodles is next door to Gail’s.

5. Monica's Bakes - 📍231 Station Road, Balsall Common and 20 St John’s Way, Knowle

Want to explore outside the city centre? Monica’s Bakes in Balsall Common and Knowle is the perfect stop. With two locations, Monica’s is sure to have something for everyone. Just on the border of Coventry and Solihull, these semi-rural villages are perfect for a wander with a sweet treat in hand. Don’t fancy eating in? No problem - their branded takeaway boxes are perfect to take your treats with you.

Menu Standouts? The case of goodies switches out every day, but expect to find fresh pastries, cakes, and cookies, made in-store daily. Regular offerings include old-school cake, rocky road, and vegan flapjacks.

Price? These treats are generally priced from £2.75 for smaller items like cracknels to £4.45 for cake slices and pastries.

How do I get there? Both locations are easy to reach from Coventry and Warwick University - just take the 87 bus to both. Or if you just want to stop by Balsall, take the Birmingham New Street train, get off at Berkswell Station and walk up to the village.
