Dotted with live-music venues, bars, and restaurants, Uplands is a great place to live if you like surrounding yourself with good vibes and even better food. With Swansea Uni just 23 mins away by foot and the University of Wales Trinity St David a 23-minute bus ride away (on the no. 91), Uplands is not only up-and-coming but accessible, too.

The city centre also proves to be a big hit with those looking for student properties in Swansea. As the beating heart of Swansea, the city centre boasts nightclubs and bars like Sin City and Bambu as well as ample shopping opportunities on High Street and Oxford Street, and sits exactly between the two Swansea Uni campuses. If you're after somewhere central for student houses in Swansea, the city centre is definitely the way to go.

It comes as no surprise that these areas are the most sought-after parts of Swansea considering that Lichfields and Swansea Council found that in 2017, 98% of Swansea's HMOs (house of multiple occupancy) could be found in the Uplands and Castle wards – which cover Brynmill, Uplands, and the city centre – with more than 65% of these being student properties. Clearly, these areas are the places to be for the real uni experience.

Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) is less than 1h 30m away by car, meaning that cave exploring, rock climbing and abseiling are all right at your fingertips.

Fancy something a little closer to home? Head a little further down the Gower Peninsula to spots like Langland Bay to try your hand at surfing. Don’t worry if you’re not the outdoorsy type, though; Swansea University boasts a Wii Sports society (it’s free to join, btw), so if you prefer to do your sports virtually, then you’re in luck.

If you’d rather spend your evenings in a bar or a pub, Swansea is still a great place to be. Sin City in the City Centre definitely makes for a memorable night out, thanks to its themed club nights and free event packages. Seriously, Sin City doesn’t mess around when it comes to hosting societies, with the venue offering free entry and queue jumping for those out on a soc social. Every now and then, Sin City even hosts headliners like Ed Sheeran and Stormzy, so keep your eyes peeled for more exciting acts if live music is your thing.
